Wooden footrests which attach to classroom chairs have been used in schools for decades.  School based physical therapists know that a footrest provides a stable surface for a students feet to rest upon. When a child's both feet are stabilized on a solid surface, postural control, sitting balance and the ability to focus are greatly improved.  Here at Solsbury, our team didn't want to alter the look of the footrests used in schools for so many years.  We simply wanted to make it better.  Teachers frequently complain that their students either kick the footrest off of the chair or wrap their feet around the sides of the footrest and bang the cutouts against the legs of the chair.  Not only does this result in the child's inability to focus but ultimately distracts the entire classroom.  Our patent pending locking footrest is constructed from 3/4" maple plywood.  It has three sides and a top surface.  The open back allows the therapist or classroom staff to adjust or tighten the locking mechanism if needed. The anti-slip tape spans the entire top surface to reduce falls.  The patent pending locking mechanism prevents shifting of the footrest.  Our footrest is able to accommodate classroom chairs with an inside leg width of 11 1/2" to an outside leg width of 20".  Our footrests come in 4" and 6" heights.
